National Visual Arts Competition Exhibition

The exhibition for this year’s National Visual Arts Competition is currently open at the National Gallery of Jamaica. On display are photographs, drawings, paintings, videos, ceramics, collages, sculptures and mixed media works.

You may view the exhibition until 20 August 2011, during the opening hours of the gallery which are as follows: Tuesdays to Thursdays -10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Fridays -10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Saturdays between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

The public also has the opportunity to select the winner of the Viewer’s Vote Prize through text voting up until July 30. The entrance fees for the gallery are usually waived during this exhibition so go out and support our local artists both young and not so young and take the opportunity to view the permanent collections at the gallery if you have never done so before.  The gallery is located on Ocean Boulevard but its entrance is on Orange Street.

I have not had the time to view the exhibition but I encouraged a friend to visit and view the collection and he came back with great reviews.

On another note, it would be remiss of me not to give an Angry Birds update. So here goes, I am stuck yet again. This time it is 3-5 in Poached Eggs. But I am still trying to kill the damn pigs. I hate the red bird because they are all I have and they are not getting the job done, partly because my aim has been way off. And just so you know there is angry birds merchandise available for purchase online. Something to contemplate (for me) after surgery.
