Derek Walcott, Poetry Is An Island is a documentary about Derek Walcott the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1992. Derek Walcott was born in St. Lucia in 1930 and currently resides there.
I had the pleasure of seeing Derek Walcott read his poetry at the Calabash International Literary Festival a few years ago. That may have been the high point of all my Calabash festivals to date.
The documentary is being made by film maker Ida Does. Now in post production phase, they are seeking funding to complete the feature documentary which they are aiming to release later this year. Using crowd sourcing they are attempting to raise 35, 000 dollars within the next 16 days.
