Christmas is a coming, Muppets, New Yorker article on Tivoli

It has been more than two weeks since my last post. One would think that it is because I have been caught up in the Christmas rush, buying presents, decorating and all that, but I have been swamped with work. I also had a little setback tending (for want of a better word) to one of those inevitable occurrences in life.

I am not big a fan of Christmas. I love the food, maybe not so much the cooking, spending time with family, but I am  not a big fan of decorating. I do not have a tree. I have a tiny apartment but even if it was bigger I would still not have a tree, not even a teeny, tiny one. I tell myself that when I have children I will have to go through the ropes so I am letting myself enjoy not having the hassle of putting one up and then having to take it down when the season is over. I have outdone myself this year, however, I have a thing on my front door, two stockings and a poinsettia plant (live) and a stuffed reindeer my pixie gave me last year at my desk at my office.

 

 

I have been patiently waiting for The Muppets to open at Carib. It opened yesterday, but to my dismay it was only being shown at 5.20 p.m. and I had planned to go downtown to Christmas in the City to see if I found anything I wanted on sale.   I really do not understand the thinking. First they took forever to open, opened on the same night as the new Chipmunk movie which is being shown both early and late. Are they saying Muppets won’t bring a crowd? I guess I will see for myself tomorrow or Saturday which is when I have rescheduled to go.

About Christmas in the City, I think there were less people there than last year. Perhaps most people went in the day time or maybe no one has any money or with the bitter pill and eucalyptus oil we seem set to receive in the new year those with money are keeping it for the many rainy days on the horizon. I look forward to going downtown at this time though because it is the only time that I get to go downtown and walk around in the late evening/night.

I am looking forward to the redevelopment of downtown that has been in the pipeline for what seems like forever and I am hoping that the next government will make some strides where this is concerned, make the tough decisions and follow through.

This is the article that indicated that we had a US plane doing surveillance during the Tivoli operation last year after the extradition request for Christopher “Dudus” Coke was signed. Makes you think about how “interested”  “we”  seem to be in finding out what really happened over those few days and just how much of a waste of time and money was the so-called enquiry (Manatt/Phelps) and reminds me that I still have not seen the windscreen wiper man that used to be a fixture on my daily commute since the operation.
